Through a Software Development Apprenticeship called “Techquity,” Harold Washington College is partnering with Catalyte to train new talent to become software developers. Catalyte’s free software development training program is the first step towards a more rewarding career, as successful graduates are guaranteed a job.
Why become a software developer?
The software developer profession is one of the most in-demand jobs in the world and is ranked the second-best job in America, with demand for developers expected to grow by over 20% in the next 10 years.
Developers use coding to help companies solve problems and create products. Any website you visit, app you use, or game you play was created by a software developer. Further, the skills you’ll learn as a developer are widely needed and used across industries, including retail, healthcare, media, finance, education, manufacturing, and more.
Pay and benefits
Catalyte apprentices receive pay and benefits, including paid holidays and time off, training allowance, and health, vision and dental benefits. Starting pay is approximately $36,000/year, with an increase to approximately $39,000/year for the second year of the apprenticeship. Starting in year three at the company, developers are salaried and make a market average, typically between $65,000-$80,000.
On average, a Catalyte-trained developer makes $98,000/year just five years after graduating from our training program.
