Provides comprehensive support across patient care, departmental operations, and supply management within a fast-paced radiology environment. Assists technologists and clinical staff in exam rooms with critical, high-acuity, and fall-risk patients while guiding outpatients through check-in, changing procedures, and preparation for imaging studies. Maintains consistent communication with patients in waiting and dressing areas to deliver updates and ensure a positive experience.
Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Care Support
    • Assist in the exam rooms with critical patients, large patients, and fall precaution patients.
    • Bring outpatients back to locker rooms and provide changing instructions while preparing them for their testing. 
    • Check-in with patients in the dressing rooms and waiting rooms to provide updates and offer assistance. 
    • Assist technologists with scanning paperwork into PACSCAN. 
    • Give and receive appropriate information from the incoming shift or during lunch coverage.
  • Operations and logistics
    • Manage telephone operations – answers, screens, and directs telephone calls. 
    • Monitor transportation tracking system and take initiative to retrieve sent-for patients when waiting times are excessive. 
    • Enter inpatients back into the transportation tracking system and take the patient to the IR holding area for transportation pick-up. 
    • Continue to monitor inpatients to go back in the transportation tracking system and take them back to their room if wait times are excessive. 
    • Follow up on old orders in Epic and update notes when necessary. 

 

  • Supply Management and Inventory 
    • Maintain a sufficient inventory of all supplies and linen in patient-care rooms, including linen disposal. 
    • Round patient locker rooms (clean changing rooms and disposing of soiled linen). 
    • Monitor portable volumes and redistribute work fairly among other available technologists. 

Good to Have:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
