Summary
The Jnr Project Manager (Apprenticeship) is a starter role for a person with no previous background in Project Management, Project execution, tracking, control and general project management skill set to join an existing project team and be mentored to take on a Jnr PM role within a client organization. This is a projected one-year paid apprenticeship role with the opportunity for the client to convert the apprentice into a Jnr PM position at the end of the apprenticeship.
The Jnr Project Manager (Apprentice) will work as part of PMO team reporting to the PMO Lead to deliver project solution governance and leadership.
The Jnr Project Manager (Apprentice) will assist in Project tracking, documentation and review of vendor statement of work, vendor management and leadership, project reporting, Risk tracking. The Jnr Project Manager (Apprentice) will also work to help with all project support work directed by the PMO lead or as needed by their workstreams removing all impediments and working to maintaining a project schedule alongside the PMO Lead.
Key Responsibilities
- Take guidance and direction from both SDI senior consultants and Client PMO Lead on project management related tasks.
- Work with PMO Lead to define, document, and execute project schedules in line with the overall Scaled Agile framework approach as required by client
- Help with Statement of work review as well as third party management; making sure that all deliverable timelines are adhered to, and the overall project schedule timeline is maintained
- Help with risk reporting, tracking and mitigation planning as required to support their solution area
- Provide overall Project Governance to assigned workstream
- Work closely within the PMO on any additional task as assigned by PMO Lead
Must Have
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project)
- Basic understanding of Agile as a Framework and SCRUM is a plus
Good to Have
- Previous experience or exposure to Project Management preferably in software implementation (understanding full system development life cycle)
- General consulting experience is a plus.
- Ability to effectively present to and work across different teams and stakeholders
