Pay: $21/hour
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Data Analyst Intern will support strategic decision-making and business analytics within the Research, Evaluation, and Business Analytics team in support of the Food Depository’s mission. This role involves cleaning data sets, conducting data analysis, developing reports, and creating dashboards. The position is intended to provide valuable experience and mentorship to advance the intern’s career in data analytics.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Clean and organize data sets to ensure accuracy and integrity.
- Conduct data analysis in Microsoft Excel, PowerBI, and potentially in other tools
- Develop and maintain reports to support strategic decision-making
- Design and implement dashboards to visualize key metrics and trends.
- Collaborate with team members and other departments to gather requirements and deliver data solutions.
- Develop presentations to communicate information and findings
- Contribute to data governance initiatives to uphold data standards and best practices
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must remain enrolled at City Colleges and in good academic standing (minimum GPA: 2.5) for the duration of the internship
- Must have no less than 30 credits by the end of Spring 2025 with the goal to complete an Associate’s Degree by the end of the Spring 2026 semester
- Be available to intern at least 20 hours per week during school for shifts no less than 4 hours each during operating hours of Monday – Friday, 8:30a – 5:00pm, hybrid (M/F remote, Tu/W/Th in person); more than 20 hours of internship per week can be accommodated
- Available to intern 35-40 hours per week during school breaks during same operating hours
- Be committed to seeking full time employment in the fund development industry after the internship
- Currently pursuing a degree in a related field
- Possess customer service and problem-solving skills as well as excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
- Able to be flexible, multitask and meet deadlines
- Able to provide and support team spirit and willingness to collaborate creatively
- Knowledge of data analytics approaches and statistics preferred
- Knowledge of data analytics tools such as Microsoft Excel or PowerBI preferred, but not required
- Familiarity with use of spreadsheets and data visualization
- Possesses strong problem-solving skills
- Able to work collaboratively across internal teams
- Able to actively communicate and engage with team members
- Able to learn quickly and adapt to new tools and technologies
EXPOSURE:
- The Individual Giving Intern will primarily work in an office setting within the Greater Chicago Food Depository’s headquarters, where they will have the opportunity to interact with Development professionals and other departments
- This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain exposure to various aspects of human resources in a nonprofit setting, particularly in the areas of employee engagement, organizational culture, and recruitment
- Available to intern at least 20 hours per week during school for shifts no less than 4 hours each during operating hours of Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm, in person; more than 20 hours of internship per week can be accommodated
- Available to intern 35-40 hours per week during school breaks during those same operating hours
